Are H4, 9003 and HB2 always interchangeable?
Generally, yes. They share the same P43t base and dual-beam function. However, "9003/HB2" historically refer to US DOT standards with stricter tolerances than older European "H4" specs. For modern LED replacements, a well-designed H4 will fit and function correctly in 9003/HB2 applications, but always confirm local road legality.
How do I choose between fanless and fan-cooled H4 LED bulbs?
Choose fanless (Mini series) for motorcycles, ATVs, or vehicles with very tight headlight housings where a fan might hit the dust cover. They operate at lower wattages (usually ~20W). Choose fan-cooled for cars and trucks needing higher brightness (35W-60W+) where space allows for active cooling.
Why does an H4 LED bulb produce scattered light?
Scattered light usually occurs because the LED chips are too large, placed incorrectly compared to the original halogen filament, or the bulb is installed at the wrong angle (not at 3 and 9 o'clock). The reflector cannot focus light that originates from the wrong focal point.
